The glass head is an elevation of 686.8  m above sea level. NHN above Glashütten and Oberems in the Taunus . The glass head is part of the Taunus main ridge . The neighboring mountains in the ridge line are the Butznickel in the west and the Kleine Feldberg in the east. The mountain gets its name from the earlier glass production in forest glassworks on its slopes, such as the glassworks on the Emsbach Gorge . The nearby community of Glashütten got its name for the same reason.

Mallmannstein

Mallmannstein is located on the southern flank of Glaskopf, above the B8. The memorial stone commemorates the death of forester Mallmann in the same place. Mallmann died in 1938 during a meeting about the new wood measurement instructions. The Mallmannsteinweg connects the "Tenno-Hütte" near the L 3025 with the Mallmannstein.

Quarry

isolated quarry

On the north-east flank of the glass head there was a quarry in which brown iron ore was extracted. Quarrying was stopped at the end of the 19th century and the quarry was forested. In 2020, Hessen-Forst cleared the area in front of the quarry from trees and leveled the area. A natural forest meadow is to be created here. A valuable biotope is to be created together with the adjacent piece of forest removed from the forest management and the high stone wall . Among other things, the eagle owl should get an ideal environment.

Forest service place

There is a large parking lot for hikers on the flat east side of the mountain, near state road 3025. A forest worship place is located a few meters away.
