Gleckspitze

The Gleckspitze (or just Gleck ; Italian Collecchio ) is a 2957  m high mountain in the Ortler Alps .

Location and surroundings

The Gleckspitze is located in the Ilmenkamm in the Ortler Alps at the end of the Ultental ( Val d'Ultimo ) in the north and the Rabbital ( Val di Rabbi ) in the south. A ridge to the Schwärzerjoch ( 2822  m ) connects to the northwest, which connects Ultental and Rabbital. To the northeast, another ridge leads to the Kirchbergjoch ( 2789  m ) and to In den Wwall . In the east, the summit structure drops gently to the Rabbijoch ( 2449  m ) and the Haselgruberhütte ( Rifugio Stella Alpina al Lago Corvo ). A last ridge runs southeast to Sas Fóra .

The summit region of the Gleckspitze lies on the border between South Tyrol and Trentino, which are represented here by the municipalities of Ulten (South Tyrol) and Rabbi (Trentino).

The mountain is part of the Stilfserjoch National Park .

Alpinism

The Gleckspitze can be climbed from both the Ultental and the Rabbital. From there you hike first to the Schwärzerjoch or the Rabbijoch , then you walk on path 145 in serpentines to the summit. The path does not present any particular difficulties.

Near shelters and pastures are the Haselgruber hut on Rabbijoch the east, the Malga Pra del Saent that Malga Stablasolo and the Rifugio Al Fontanin beneath the southwestern flank of the Gleckspitze little further away to the north, the highest hut ( Rifugio Canziani ) at Green Lake below the rear harrows tip .
