Ronald Glen "Big Baby" Davis (born January 1, 1986 in Baton Rouge , Louisiana ) is an American basketball player who was active from 2007 to 2015 in the NBA .

college

After Davis attended the University Laboratory High School in Baton Rouge , he went to the prestigious Louisiana State University , which is also in his hometown of Baton Rouge. In his second year he was able to lead his team into the Final Four after 23 years of abstinence . After his sophomore season, Davis signed up for the 2007 NBA draft .

NBA

Boston Celtics (2007-2011)

Davis was selected in the NBA draft in 35th place by the Seattle SuperSonics , but then transferred together with Ray Allen to the Boston Celtics . He was instant champion in his debut season with the Celtics, even if Davis contributed little to the championship with only about 8 minutes playing time per game.

After another good season, in which he was on the floor for over 21 minutes on average, both regular Kevin Garnett and backup Leon Powe fell out of the playoffs , so Davis was the starter for the entire postseason. With almost 16 points in 36 minutes, he underlined his ability impressively and failed together with the other team leaders Paul Pierce , Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen just barely at the Orlando Magic in the second round. In August 2009, Davis signed a two-year, $ 6.5 million contract extension.

Just two days before the first game of the season, Davis got involved in a fight with an old friend in which he broke his thumb and was out for six weeks. Davis was injured in a car accident en route to a New York Knicks game he was supposed to be making his comeback, and his comeback was further delayed. On January 3, he played his first game of the season.

In the fourth game of the 2010 NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers on June 10, he secured his team the 2-2 equalization when he scored 18 points in 22 minutes.

Orlando Magic (2011-2014)

In December Davis joined the Orlando Magic with Von Wafer . In return, the Celtics received Brandon Bass . With the Magic, Davis only made it into the playoffs in 2011 and 2012. Due to various injuries, he also had to sit out for long periods of time. In February 2014, the Magic finally dissolved the contract with Davis in order to continue the rebuilding with younger players.

Los Angeles Clippers (2014-2015)

After terminating his contract with the Magic, Davis signed a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers . There he met Doc Rivers , who was already his coach in Boston. Davis stayed with the Clippers until the end of the 2014-15 season .

Trivia
