2007 NBA Draft
The 2007 NBA Draft was conducted on June 28, 2007 at Madison Square Garden in New York City , New York . In two rounds, the 30 NBA teams were able to secure the rights to the 60 most talented young players.
The order of the draft is determined by the draft lottery , which will be held on May 22, 2007. Only the 14 teams that did not qualify for the play-offs in the 2006/07 season are represented in the lottery . The position of the remaining 16 teams depends on their performance in the regular season .
All players wishing to register for the draft must be born before December 31, 1988 regardless of their nationality. Americans must also be at least one year after graduating from high school.

The final draft order for positions 1 to 14 was determined by the draft lottery on May 22, 2007. The 14 teams that did not qualify for the playoffs take part in this weighted lottery and are placed in the reverse order of the regular season table. The worst team of the past season ( Memphis Grizzlies ) is in first place and had a 25% chance of winning the lottery and the best of the 14 teams not qualified for the playoffs ( Los Angeles Clippers ) is in 14th place and had a 0.5% chance. If a team has acquired one of these 14 draft picks by transfer, the placement in the regular season of the original holder of the respective draft pick continues to apply to the seeding list in the draft lottery and the draft order. The three winners of the lottery take the first three places in the final draft order. The remaining eleven teams are placed behind in the order of the seeding list.
