Sean Williams (born September 13, 1986 in Houston , Texas ) is an American basketball player .

college

He became the main throw blocker on his Boston College basketball team . However, he was also known for his lack of discipline during his three college years. He was suspended for a semester during his sophomore year of college, after which he took courses at the University of Houston. Eventually Williams was banned from basketball after two cautions in his third year of college. Nevertheless, he led the NCAA in " shot blocks " in the 2006/07 season , of which he scored five per game.

Career

After three years at Boston College he was selected in 17th place by the New Jersey Nets , where he also played in phases for their " farm team " Colorado 14ers in the NBA Development League (D-League). In early 2010 the Nets fired. After two positions outside the USA, he played again in the D-League for the Texas Legends from November 2010 until the end of the 2010/2011 season . Due to the " lockout " in the NBA, he signed a two-year contract with Maccabi Haifa at the beginning of the 2011/12 season with an exit option should the lockout be ended. When that was the case, he signed a two-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA, who sent him to their farm team Legends in the D-League. At the beginning of March 2012 he was finally brought back to the Mavs and released on March 22, 2012. He remained a " free agent " until the Boston Celtics signed him shortly before the end of the season.

In the summer of 2012 he was transferred from the Celtics to the Houston Rockets as part of an exchange , but they were released a month later without Williams having played a championship game for the Rockets. For the 2012/13 season he then came back to the Texas Legends squad in the D-League.

Since 2013 he has been under contract with Torku Konyaspor in the Turkish Türkiye Basketbol Ligi .
