Aleksandar "Sasha" Pavlović (born November 15, 1983 in Bar , SR Montenegro , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Montenegrin basketball player who was active for most of his career in the North American professional league NBA .
NBA career
After three years at KK Budućnost , Pavlović signed up for the 2003 NBA draft and was selected 19th by the Utah Jazz . There he only played one season before he was drawn by the newly formed Charlotte Bobcats in the expansion draft , but was immediately transferred to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a first-round pick .
After the 2008/09 season , Pavlović was sent to the Phoenix Suns with Ben Wallace in exchange for Shaquille O'Neal . Both Pavlović's contract and Wallace's contract were canceled by the Suns a little later. The forward then signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves for a year .
For the 2010/11 season he initially got no contract until Dallas Mavericks player Caron Butler tore a patellar tendon rupture, which meant the end of the season for Butler. The Mavs took Pavlović as a replacement, initially for ten days, under contract. After it expired, the contract was extended for another ten days.
Pavlović received no contract with the Mavericks until the end of the season, so he again signed a ten-day contract, this time with the New Orleans Hornets . There he got significantly less playing time than in Dallas and also received no extra time until the end of the season.
The Boston Celtics marked Pavlović's third stop within a few months. He initially signed a contract until the end of the season; then this was extended for another season. Even with the Celtics, Pavlović mostly only had a reserve role.
On July 20, 2012, Pavlović was passed on to the Portland Trail Blazers in a swap between three teams . He was active for about a year for the Blazers until they released him from his contract on July 6, 2013.
