Gloria Cáceres Vargas
Gloria Cáceres Vargas (born May 2, 1947 in Colta , formerly Parinacochas Province, today Páucar del Sara Sara , Ayacucho , Peru ) is a Peruvian writer , translator and literary scholar who writes in Spanish and Chanka-Quechua or South Quechua . She has contributed to Quechua literature with poetry and short stories.
Career
Gloria Cáceres Vargas studied education, linguistics and cultural studies at the Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal in Lima , the Universidad Nacional de Educación Enrique Guzmán y Valle in Chosica and the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima. She then worked as a literature professor and lecturer in Quechua at the Universidad Nacional de Educación Enrique Guzmán, where from 1997 to 1999 she was also dean of the humanities faculty and director of the La Cantuta magazine.
In October 1999 she was invited to work at INALCO in Paris as a professor of Quechua, which she did until 2005. She was also Professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at the University of Paris III - Sorbonne Nouvelle. In 2008 she returned to Peru to work as a Chanka-Quechua specialist in the Department of Intercultural Bilingual Education of the Peruvian Ministry of Education. Since 2009 she has been a professor at the Universidad Peruana Unión de Ñaña in Lima.
Literary work
Gloria Cáceres Vargas has published various literary works in Spanish and Chanka-Quechua . In 1996 and 2009 two bilingual volumes of poetry were published: Riqsinakusun / Conozcámonos (let's get to know) and Munakuwaptiykiqa / Si tú me quisieras (If you loved me). In her 2010 volume Wiñay suyasqayki / Te esperaré siempre (I will always wait for you), she published some stories about migration from the Andes to the city as well as her own journeys between Chosica and Colta in her youth. In 2015 her collection of poems Yuyaypa k'anchaqnin / Fulgor de mis recuerdos ( Shine of my memory) came out.
She has also translated some literary texts from Spanish into Quechua, including three texts by José María Arguedas : Warma kuyay (originally 1935), Yawar willay (1945) and Hijo solo (1957) = Sapan Churi , published in Quechua translation in 2011.
family
Gloria Cáceres Vargas is the widow of the journalist Cesáreo (Chacho) Martínez Sánchez, with whom she has a son, the biologist and paleontologist Manuel Agustín Martínez Cáceres.
