The province of Páucar del Sara Sara belongs to the Ayacucho administrative region in southwestern Peru . It has an area of 2097 km². The 2017 census counted 9609 inhabitants in the province. Ten years earlier the population was 11,012. The administrative seat is Pausa .
Geographical location
The province of Páucar del Sara Sara is located in the south of the Ayacucho region. The province is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera on the middle reaches of the Río Marán , right source river of the Río Ocoña . The Sarasara volcano rises on the southwestern provincial border .
The province of Páucar del Sara Sara borders in the northwest with the province Parinacochas , in the southeast with the province La Unión (region Arequipa) and in the south with the province Caravelí (region Arequipa).
