The Huanca Sancos Province is part of the Ayacucho administrative region in southwestern Peru . It has an area of 2862 km². The 2017 census counted 8409 inhabitants in the province. In 2007 the population was 10,620, in 1993 10,213. The administrative seat is Huanca Sancos .
Geographical location
The province of Huanca Sancos is located in the west of the Ayacucho region. It extends over the Andean highlands and extends in the west to the Peruvian Western Cordillera . The Río Caracha , right tributary of the Río Pampas , drains the area to the north.
The province of Huanca Sancos borders in the north on the province Víctor Fajardo , in the south on the province Lucanas and in the west on the province Huaytará ( region Huancavelica ).
