The Pararca district is located in the Páucar del Sara Sara province in the Ayacucho region in south-central Peru . The district has an area of 56.7 km². The 2017 census counted 439 residents. In 1993 the population was 664, in 2007 it was 678. The district administration is located in Pararca, 3010 m above sea level, with 262 inhabitants (as of 2017). Pararca is located about 15 km west-northwest of the provincial capital Pausa .
Geographical location
The Pararca district is located in the Cordillera Volcánica in the central west of the Páucar del Sara Sara province. It is located on the north bank of the east flowing Río Pararca north of the 5505 m high Sarasara volcano (also Sara Sara).
The Pararca district borders on the Sara Sara district to the south, the Lampa to the west, north and northeast and the Pausa district to the east .
