The Gmina Tykocin is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Białostocki of the Podlaskie Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name with almost 2000 inhabitants.
geography
The eponymous city is located about 20 kilometers west of Białystok. The waters include the Narew River and the Biebrza . 63% of the area of 207 square kilometers is used for agriculture and 27% for forestry.
history
From 1975 to 1998 Gmina Tykocin belonged to the Białystok Voivodeship .
