The Goldbach is an 8 km long brook on the Geest in Lower Saxony near Beckdorf .
Its source is located near Dannsee Castle in the Beckdorfer Moor . First relatively straightened, it flows behind the Beckdorf railway embankment bridge in its almost unchanged stream bed across the village of Beckdorf and then through distinctive meadow landscapes past the Beekhoff towards Goldbeck. Behind Goldbeck, the Goldbach is dammed into a mill pond at the Goldbecker Mühle . On the banks of the stream there are many meadows and pastures as well as some small alluvial forests . It finally flows into the Este at Moisburg .
origin of the name
His name is actually not Goldbach, but Goldbek. In Low German as Goldbek called, the name was mutatis mutandis to the high German translated. The prefix of the stream Gold- is originally called Gull- (or Gu-). Gull is derived from Gole and can be translated as elongated depression in the ground or wet depression.
