Goliath II is an American animated short film directed by Wolfgang Reitherman in 1960.
action
Goliath II is a young elephant who is barely bigger than his father's Goliath I's toenail. Although the little one is the mother's pride and joy, his father is disappointed to have such a tiny boy as a son, where in the elephant kingdom size also means meaning. Tiger Raja has long since taken notice of Goliath II and is hunting him because he has always wanted to eat an elephant. Usually Goliath II has to be rescued by his always worried mother. When the little one stays behind during an elephant hike to watch snails crawl and falls into a small hole, the entire hike has to be interrupted, the elephants run into each other and get blue eyes. The mother only succeeds with difficulty in getting her son out of the hole. As a punishment, he has to spend the night in a bird's nest during the next rest. Since his mother has also described him as a "plague", Goliath II leaves the herd insulted, is afraid of fireflies and frogs and soon falls into Raja's hands. The mother elephant saves her son one more time, but Goliath II is now an outsider in the herd because he wanted to abandon them.
The migration of the elephants continues until suddenly all the elephants flee in panic. A mouse sits on the path, pretending to be threatening. Only Goliath II, who is also mouse-sized, is unimpressed. Sitting at a safe distance in the pond, the big elephants watch how it comes to the tussle between elephant and mouse and in the end the mouse surrenders. Goliath II is now a hero, is taken back into the herd and is allowed to sit on his father's head during the hike.
