Kevin Corcoran
Kevin Anthony Corcoran (born June 10, 1949 in Santa Monica , California - † October 6, 2015 in Burbank , California) was an American child actor who mainly starred in Disney productions. In adulthood he worked as a television director and film and television producer.
life and career
Kevin Corcoran was born to Bill Corcoran Sr. (1905-1958), a former police officer and security guard at the MGM studio lot in Hollywood. Not only Kevin, but also his seven siblings came into action as film and television actors in the 1950s and 1960s. At the age of five he played the son of Glenn Miller ( James Stewart ) in the biopic The Glenn Miller Story . In 1956, Corcoran played the role of the mischievous boy Moochie McCandless for the first time in a Disney television series. The character of Moochie turned out to be so popular that Corcoran played her incoherently in other Disney television series and in the film The Weird Zotti until 1960 . For Disney he also played important supporting roles in several family films. Starting with the film His friend Jello from 1957, he played the younger brother of Tommy Kirk in a total of five films . He had a leading role in Charles Barton's comedy Toby Tyler in 1960 , where he ran away from his family in the role of Toby Tyler and joined a circus.
After the onset of puberty, Corcoran's acting career largely ended, his last role he took on in 1968 in the western Inferno on the River . However, after graduating from California State University , Corcoran remained connected to Hollywood in many ways. From the late 1970s he worked on the production of films such as The Victory of the Star Children and Herbie goes crazy . From the 1980s he co-produced television series such as Herbie, The Love Bug , Mord ist ihr Hobby and Sons of Anarchy . He also worked as an assistant director on many television series such as Simon & Simon , Baywatch and Columbo . Most prominent was probably his work at Mord ist ihr Hobby , where between 1991 and 1996 he acted as an assistant director of over 50 episodes and even staged two episodes as the main director himself. In 2009, after forty years, he took on an acting role again in the independent film It Starts with Murder! .
Corcoran was named a Disney Legend in 2006 for his work in the Disney films . Kevin Cocoran died in October 2015 at the age of 66 years to cancer . From 1972 until his death he was married to Laura Soltwedel.
