Goppisberg is a village and a civic community with a civic council in the Ostlich Raron district of the canton of Valais . Two grave finds from the Bronze and Roman Ages bear witness to early settlement. The Chapel of John the Baptist was built in 1669. In 1981 the village was opened up by a car road. It was a separate political municipality until November 1, 2003 when it merged with Greich and Ried-Mörel to form the municipality of Riederalp .
