Gordon Eugene Christian (born November 21, 1927 in Warroad , Minnesota - † June 2, 2017 in Grand Forks , North Dakota ) was an American ice hockey player .
Career
Gordon Christian attended the University of North Dakota from 1947 to 1950 , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . From 1952 to 1954 he played for the amateur team Hibbing Flyers from his home state of Minnesota. After the end of his career, he worked for the family company that manufactured ice hockey sticks.
International
For the US national ice hockey team , Christian took part in the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , where he and his team won the silver medal. He was also in his country's squad at the 1955 and 1958 World Championships .

family
His brothers Bill and Roger were also ice hockey players and took part in the Winter Olympics for the USA, with Bill and Roger even becoming Olympic champions in 1960. His nephews Dave and Ed also became professional ice hockey players, with Dave continuing the family's Olympic tradition and also becoming an Olympic champion in 1980. His great-nephew Brock Nelson is now also a professional ice hockey player.
