The Gostner Court Theater is a private theater in the Nuremberg district Gostenhof . It was founded in 1979 and operated by the Gostner Hoftheater eV association. Mainly pieces by young, contemporary authors, but also modern adaptations of classics are shown, and other theater groups in Nuremberg's independent scene have the opportunity to present their productions. The Gostner was opened in a converted toy factory as a "theater around the corner". Just a decade later, the stage, originally designed as a workshop theater, was able to present its own productions with professional actors and directors. In the meantime it has established itself as the second important theater in Nuremberg's culture alongside the State Theater in Nuremberg.

Venues

The original house at Austraße 70 offers space for 82 visitors. The LOFT theater pub in the basement of the Gostner Hoftheater offers music, cabaret and reading evenings and presents art exhibitions to accompany Gostner's own productions.

The Hubertussaal in Dianastraße 28 in Nürnberg- Gibitzenhof with an Art Nouveau ambience has a capacity of 250-300 spectators and has been the outdoor venue of the Gostner Hoftheater since 1998. Large productions as well as selected guest performances and concerts are offered there. The theater workshop (50–60 visitors), also in Dianastraße, has the character of a studio and is used for smaller stagings and productions by the Gostner Theater Youth Club.

Youth theater

Youth theater is one of the focal points of the program. Every two years the Gostner Hoftheater has been organizing the youth theater festival licht.blicke since 2001 . , which presents top-class performances for a young audience. The KulturRucksack of the Gostner Hoftheater gives middle school students from socially disadvantaged districts the opportunity to visit four different cultural institutions and four in-depth educational workshops almost at zero cost in one school year. The Hubert Theater Youth Club meets once a week. Young people from the age of 14 develop a play under pedagogical guidance, which is performed in front of an audience at the end of the school year.
