Gottfried Veit

Gottfried Veit (born August 13, 1943 in Bozen , South Tyrol ) is a South Tyrolean composer, clarinetist, conductor, choir director and honorary regional conductor of the Association of South Tyrolean music bands .

Life

Gottfried Veit grew up in Bolzano, where he still lives today. At a young age he learned to play the clarinet and tried himself as a self-taught composer . He went to the Salzburg Mozarteum to there music education to study. At the Conservatory "Claudio Monteverdi" Bolzano he obtained a diploma in clarinet. He also passed the Kapellmeister exam in Salzburg .

As a composer

Veit composed over 300 works from the fields of brass music , chamber music , songs and choral pieces, as well as the incidental music for Gerhart Hauptmann's comedy Schluck und Jau . In many of his compositions his connection to his homeland is expressed, including Tyrolean heroes , the concert overture Etschland , the romantic clay paintings Meran , Tyrol Castle , The Sciliar and the Empire of the Dolomites or Andreas Hofer's fanfare . On the other hand, works from his pen such as "The Last Judgment", "The Trumpets of Jericho", "The Four Temperaments", "Passion Music", "The Oracle" etc. point to the future.
