Gotthart Kuppel (* 1946 in Bremen ), after initially being a judo athlete and doctor, has become an actor, slack rope artist, performer, theater director, playwright, librettist and finally object artist.

biography

In 1965 Kuppel graduated from high school in Bremen. From 1960 to 1972 he was active in judo; In 1968 he was third in the student world championship, then, after six months of training in Japan, he was a member of the Olympic squad for 1972. In 1965 and 1966, Kuppel did his military service; In 1983 he refused.

In 1966 he began studying medicine at the University of Munich , and in 1973 he passed the state examination there. 1986 dome at the University of Bochum for "Dr. med. ”is doing his doctorate with the dissertation on the health behavior of actors .

He got his first theatrical work through judo: in 1970 he arranged a brawl. After acting as an actor in Munich and Bremen, he worked for Peter Zadek at the Schauspielhaus Bochum from 1975 to 1979 as an actor, assistant director, dramaturge, acrobat, musician and body trainer. He then worked as an actor and artist at various German theaters.

Since 1970 he has also appeared as a soloist; as a slacker, cabaret artist, joker and performer, he gave himself the name "Doctor Kuppels Combination Art". He played in Germany, Japan, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Switzerland, Spain and the Czech Republic.

From 1982 he also worked as a director, especially at the theater for children. Through directorial work and his own directorial versions, he came to intensified literary work. In addition to short prose, Kuppel wrote plays, librettos and numerous arrangements for the theater. In 1991 he received the Bremen Literature Grant.

From 1998 he exhibited his objects as a visual artist in various galleries. In 2010 he became a member of the BBK (Professional Association of Visual Artists) Bremen. He lives and works in Bremen and Tenerife .
