Gottlieb Begle

Gottlieb Begle (born February 8, 1818 in Liestal , † September 29, 1891 in Domdidier , reformed , legal domicile since 1823 in Liestal) was a Swiss politician (anti-revisionist).

Life

Gottlieb Begle came on 8 February 1818 in Liestal, the son of from Satteins originating Maurer Johann Jakob Begle and native Itingerin Elisa born Meyer to the world. Gottlieb Begle, who experienced the turmoil of separation in Basel as an adolescent, completed training as a lawyer . Subsequently he worked as a lawyer and editor . Between March and April of 1845 he took part in the Second Freischarenzzug , where he was taken prisoner. From May to July of the same year he was employed as editor of the government-loyal "Basellandschaftliche Wochenblatt" in Liestal, after which he founded the moderately opposition "Vaterländische Zeitung" .

Gottlieb Begle was married to Fanny Louise, born abbot, who was born in Bretzwil . He died on September 29, 1891 a few months before his 74th birthday in Domdidier.

Political activity

Gottlieb Begle held his first political office between 1844 and 1848 as the Basel district administrator . He then acted as governor of the Waldenburg district until 1866 , before he was elected to the government council of the canton of Basel-Landschaft, of which he was a member until 1972. There he headed first the military and police, then the finance department. He was also represented on the Constitutional Council in 1850 and 1863 .

He was also the first director of the Société d'horlogerie de Waldenburg in 1853. Begle, who was politically radical in his youth, later stood between the party of order and party of movement. As a member of the Patriotic Association and anti from 1862 he was an opponent of Christoph Rolles democratic movement. He emerged as a promoter of the watch industry in the Waldenburg Valley .
