Gottlob Haubold von Liebenau

Gottlob Haubold von Liebenau (* 1721 in Wurzen ; † February 9, 1792 in Pegau ) was a major general of the Elector of Saxony .

Life

Military career

Liebenau joined the Electoral Saxon army as a cadet in 1737 at the age of 16 . During his 55 years of service, he was promoted to major general. Liebenau took part with the Saxon army in all three Silesian Wars , 1740/42 on the side of Prussia against Austria , 1744/45 then on the side of Austria against Prussia and in the Seven Years' War 1756/63 again on the side of Austria.

The mid-1780s served Liebenau as Lieutenant Colonel in Cuirassier - Regiment "Anhalt". In 1786 he was elected by the Saxon Elector Johann Georg III. appointed commander of the cuirassier regiment "Kurfürst" with simultaneous promotion to colonel . It is also recorded as such in the Electoral Saxon court and state calendars from 1787 to 1790.

Liebenau died at the age of 72 on the Schlagfluss in what was then the headquarters of the Electoral Saxon army.

family

Gottlob Haubold came from the noble family of Liebenau . His father was Lieutenant Colonel von Liebenau in Electoral Saxony, his mother Johanne Helene, née von Wolffersdorff . He still had three sisters:

Liebenau was married to Sophia Dorothea von Derschau . She was the daughter of the Prussian major general Christian Reinhold von Derschau (1679–1742) and his wife Louise Charlotte, née von Sturm. Liebenau's wife was also the sister of the Prussian secret minister of state Friedrich Wilhelm von Derschau (1723–1779).
