The Gaza Governorate ( Arabic محافظة غزة, DMG Muḥāfaẓat Ġazza ) is one of five administrative districts of the Palestinian Authority or the State of Palestine in the Gaza Strip . The district city is the city of Gaza City . According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the population of the governorate rose from 487,904 in mid-2005 to 625,824 in 2015.
All seats in parliament were won by Hamas in the January 2006 election.
