The North Gaza Governorate ( Arabic محافظة شمال غزة, DMG Muḥāfaẓat Šamāl Ġazza ) is an administrative district of the Palestinian Authority or the State of Palestine . It is in the north of the Gaza Strip . According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the governorate had 270,245 inhabitants (7.2 percent of the Palestinian population) in mid-2007, with an average of 40,262 households in 2007. By 2015, this number rose to 362,772.
North Gaza has five seats on the Palestinian Legislative Council . In the 2006 election, these were all won by members of the Hamas party.
