Socotra ( Arabic محافظة أرخبيل سقطرى, DMG Muḥāfaẓat Arḫabīl Suquṭrā  'Governorate of the Socotra Archipelago') is a governorate of Yemen . It includes the same Socotra - Archipelago . The capital is Hidaybu .

Administrative division

The governorate of Socotra is divided into 2 districts.

history

The archipelago was initially part of the state of Mahra , which was incorporated into the Protectorate of South Arabia in 1963 . With the independence of South Yemen in 1967, the archipelago was incorporated into the Adan Governorate . In 2004 the archipelago came to the Hadramaut Governorate .

In December 2013, a separate governorate of Socotra was created with the two districts of Hidaybu and Qulensya Wa Abd Al Kuri . This leaves 28 of the previously 30 districts in Hadramaut Governorate .
