Grabowski or Götzendorf-Grabowski , also Count v. Grabowski , is the name of an old Pomeranian noble family.

history

The oldest known ancestor is Benjamin Grabowski, Comes auf Grabowo (today Grabowo Królewskie ) and Palatine von Posen , who founded the Cistercian monastery in Filehne (today Wieleń ) in 1230 . With Bartholomäus von Graboski part of the family moved to Miskolecz on the Tisza in Hungary in 1283 .

Stephan von Grabowski, head of the branch that remained in Pommerellen , was enfeoffed in 1354 by the Grand Master of the German Order Winrich von Kniprode with the rule of Götzendorf and since then has been nicknamed von Götzendorf. Prussian count status on September 19, 1786 for Peter von Grabowski-Götzendorf, who, however, had no descendants. Renewed Prussian counts on September 10, 1840 for Joseph Ignaz and Joseph v. Grabowski-Götzendorf according to the law of the firstborn .

A square shield with a central shield. In the blue center shield a golden crescent moon turning upwards, which is pierced by an upright sword, which is accompanied by a golden star at the top and on each side (heraldic family Zbiszwicz). 1 in blue over a golden star a fallen golden crescent moon, on which stands a cross, the uppermost of which, as well as the right and left arms are also crossed ( corybut ); 2 in Roth three (2 and 1) silver anchors with the hooks turned upwards ( Turno ); 3 in red, six silver lilies placed in two rows diagonally opposite each other (Wierzbno); and 4 in red, a silver, round head band, the ends of which are tied with a knot at the bottom ( Nałęcz ). The crown of the count covers the shield.
