Graden-Piber is a cadastral municipality of the municipality of Köflach in the Voitsberg district , Styria . From 1850 to 2014 it belonged to the independent municipality of Graden , which was still called Graden-Piber when it was founded. On January 1, 2015, she and the remaining area of ​​the municipality came to the municipality of Köflach as part of the municipal structural reform in Styria.

Geography and location

Graden-Piber is located in the northwestern part of the municipality of Köflach, northwest of the main town of Köflach, on the elevations on both sides of the Gradnerbach , which flows through the cadastral municipality in a north-south direction. Northeast the cadastral borders on the municipality of Kainach bei Voitsberg belonging cadastral Kainach . In the east and south-east, the border with the municipality of Bärnbach and the cadastral municipality of Piberegg runs , including over the summit area of ​​the Hirtlkogel . The cadastral community of Gradenberg-Piber is located on the heights in the southwest, west and northwest , with the Gradnerbach and other smaller streams forming the boundary here. The state road L 341, the Kainacherstraße, runs through the cadastral community between Krenhof and Kainach near Voitsberg.

On the territory of the cadastral community are the village and scattered settlement of Graden , which used to be the main town of the former community, the scattered settlement of Sonnleiten and several individual farms. The highest point in the Graden-Piber area is the 961 meter high Hirtlkogel.

The area of ​​Graden-Piber was settled from the late early Middle Ages . With the constitution of the free municipalities, Graden-Piber came together with Gradenberg-Piber to form the independent municipality of Graden-Piber, which later became the municipality of Graden. On January 1, 2015, the municipality of Graden, and thus also the cadastral municipality of Graden-Piber, was merged with the municipality of Köflach as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform.
