Gradenberg-Piber is a cadastral municipality of the municipality of Köflach in the Voitsberg district , Styria . From 1850 to 2014 it belonged to the independent municipality of Graden , which was still called Graden-Piber when it was founded. On January 1, 2015, she and the remaining area of the municipality came to the municipality of Köflach as part of the municipal structural reform in Styria.
Geography and location
Gradenberg-Piber is located in the northwestern part of the municipality of Köflach, northwest of the main town of Köflach, on the elevations between the Katzbach and Sallabach in the west and southwest and the Gradnerbach valley in the east. To the north and northeast, the cadastral community borders on the cadastral communities of Oswaldgraben and Kainach, which belong to the community of Kainach near Voitsberg . In the east, the border to the cadastral community of Graden-Piber runs along the Gradnerbach valley. In the southeast, the Gradnerbach also forms the border to the Piberegg cadastral community of Bärnbach . In the south, the border to the Köflach cadastral community of Gradenberg with the Krenhof settlement and the Krengraben Rotte runs largely along the Sallabach. In the southwest, west and northwest is the market town of Maria Lankowitz, with the Sallabach also forming the border to the cadastral communities of Kirchberg and Salla . The border to the Maria Lankowitz cadastral community Scherzberg again runs along the Katzbach and over the summit of the Wetterkogel .
The scattered settlements Berg , Mitteregg and Sallagraben as well as several individual farms are located in the area of the cadastral community . The highest point in the Gradenberg-Piber area is the 1362 meter high Wetterkogel.
history
The area of Gradenberg-Piber was settled from the late early Middle Ages . With the constitution of the free municipalities, Gradenberg-Piber came together with Graden-Piber to form the independent municipality of Graden-Piber, which later became the municipality of Graden. On January 1, 2015, the municipality of Graden, and thus also the cadastral municipality of Gradenberg-Piber, was merged with the municipality of Köflach as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform.
