Grand Gedeh County (alternative spellings Grand Gedah , Grand Jide ) is an administrative region ( county ) in Liberia , it has a size of 10,484 km² and had 125,258 inhabitants at the last census (2008).

The administrative region is divided into eight districts. The capital is Zwedru in the Tchien District.

The region is located in eastern Liberia and borders the Republic of Ivory Coast . It was not until 2000 that the River Gee region was split off from Grand Gedeh. The Krahn are an important ethnic group in Grand Gedeh .

The flag of Grand Gedeh shows the sun rising behind a green mountain against a background of two stripes. Of these, the white stripe stands for purity of heart and the blue one for peace and prosperity.

politics

In the 2005 first Democratic Senate election after the Civil War, Isaac Wehyee Nyenabo was elected by the NDPL and William Cheyety Sandy by the COTOL .
