Great is a German Short Film - Comedy by Dog Ear Films from the year 2013 . Directed by Andreas Henn; the leading role is played by Milos Bikovic as Nikola Radosevic, a young partisan who puts himself in danger with his love for film. The plot is based on a true story. The short film was nominated for three prizes and awarded six times.

Serbia during World War II : the young partisan Nikola Radosevic opposes his brother Rado and is slapped by Ivona, his brother's wife, who is also a partisan. Because he has once again procured films instead of weapons, because he is convinced that war can also be waged without weapons. As a film fanatic, he makes his way to the next German soldiers' cinema to use a ruse to exchange the intended strip of the request concert and to show the German military the great dictator by Charlie Chaplin . This had an unexpected effect on the occupiers, so that Radosevic escaped the planned shooting through the favor of an official.

In 2011, a hidden hint on the internet piqued the curiosity of director Andreas Henn to research the exact background of the story. In Belgrade he met Nikola Radosevic, the protagonist from back then. Nikola Radosevic died in September 2013 at the age of 87, but he still saw the premiere of “Great” in Belgrade.

The film adaptation of the true story of Nikola Radosevic was originally supposed to be shot in Belgrade, but this was discarded for reasons of cost. The shooting took place in the Railway Museum in Nördlingen , Munich and in Potsdam - Babelsberg . The cinema scene was shot in the Maxim cinema in Munich with around 80 extras.

In post-production, 12 hours of footage was reduced to 22 minutes. The music was composed by Sandy Lopicic .

The short film took part in the competition of the 34th Max-Ophüls-Preis film festival and the International Short Film Festival in Almería and won the audience award in addition to the award for the best international short film.

The film was financed and promoted by the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern . TV broadcasts took place on Arte and on SWR , which are also the co-producers.
