Greg Amadio (born May 13, 1981 in Sault Ste. Marie , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Springfield Falcons in the American Hockey League .
Career
Greg Amadio began his career as a hockey player at Michigan Tech , which he attended from 1999 to 2003, while he was also active for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Towards the end of the 2002/03 season , the defender made his professional ice hockey debut for the Memphis Riverkings of the Central Hockey League . In 14 games he stayed without points and received 24 penalty minutes. In the summer of 2003 he signed a contract with Columbia Inferno , for which he played in the ECHL in the following year and a half . During this period he also played a game for the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League . He then also spent a year and a half in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins .
The 2006/07 season began Amadio with the Iowa Stars from the AHL, but moved after only 14 games within the league to the Portland Pirates , in which he scored eight scorer points, including three goals, in 44 games by the end of the season. After a year with the Binghamton Senators , the Canadian was signed by the Hershey Bears , with whom he won the Calder Cup in 2009 and 2010 . Following these successes, he returned to his ex-club Grand Rapids Griffins for the 2010/11 season .
On January 19, 2012, the Griffins transferred him within the American Hockey League in exchange for Mike Thomas to the Springfield Falcons . After the end of the 2012/13 season, the Canadian ended his active career.
