Gregory Neil Anderson (born September 28, 1981 in St. Paul , Minnesota ) is an American pianist, composer, video producer and writer.

Life

Anderson received his first piano lessons at the age of seven and later became a student of Kim Craig, with whom he studied at the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music for eleven years . During his school days he already gave concerts at the Aspen Music Festival and the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival.

In 2000 he moved to New York City and continued his education at the Juilliard School , where he studied with Julian Martin. There he met the pianist Elizabeth Joy Roe , with whom he founded the piano duo Anderson & Roe, which still exists today. In 2006 he completed his studies with a Master of Music. He then received a scholarship and earned a doctorate in performing arts from the Yale School of Music .

Anderson's repertoire includes the entire classical and modern literature from Johann Sebastian Bach to Igor Stravinsky and György Ligeti . Together with his duo partner, he also appears with virtuoso interpreted songs by Coldplay and Michael Jackson as well as Astor Piazzolla's Libertango , which Anderson himself arranged for two pianos. Her originally staged videos in this regard are also extremely successful.

The artist lives in New Haven , Connecticut .
