Greg Evtushevski (born May 4, 1965 in St. Paul , Alberta ) is a former Canadian - German ice hockey player , who during his career was active in the German Ice Hockey League and played for the Krefeld Penguins , Kassel Huskies and Frankfurt Lions .
Career
Evtushevski began his playing career in 1982 with the Kamloops Blazers in the WHL , the Canadian junior league. There he wore the shirt number # 26, which is no longer awarded there due to his significant achievements. Consequently, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1983 in the seventh round in 125th position by the New Jersey Devils .
After Germany he then moved to EC Bad Nauheim in 1987 in the 2nd Bundesliga , where he scored 202 points in 68 games in two seasons , but could not prevent the descent of the Nauheimer in the 1989/90 season. There he got the nickname "Shevi" because of his surname. He performed equally well in the following two seasons from 1989 to 1991 at the ECD Sauerland , which were also second class, and in which he managed 201 points in 77 games. In 1991 he moved back to EC Bad Nauheim, which was then back in second class. For the coming season 1992/93 he was lured away from the ice hockey Bundesliga by EC Ratingen .
With Ratingen he played for the first time in the top German league. However, this only lasted a year until he was then committed in the 1993/94 season by EV Krefeld , which was also first class. With Krefeld he witnessed the founding of the German Ice Hockey League and the renaming to Krefeld Pinguine .
In the 1995/96 season he finally switched to the Kassel Huskies , with whom he won the German runner-up title in 1997 . There he recorded 150 scorer points and almost 400 penalty minutes in 208 games during his five years of team membership. The separation from the "Huskies" came as a surprise in 2000, when Evtushevski's contract was no longer renewed due to frequent injuries.
From 2000 to 2002 he tried it with the Frankfurt Lions, for whom he achieved 82 games and 34 scorer points in the two years and then ended his career there.
After accepting German citizenship, Evtushevski played for Germany at the 1994 World Cup .
