Greg Proops (born October 3, 1956 in Phoenix , Arizona ) is an American actor .

Life

Proops was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1959, but grew up in San Carlos, California . There he attended the local high school and studied radio at San Mateo Junior College before moving to the theater at San Francisco State University . However, he left the university after two and a half years without a degree. He then joined an improvisational theater group led by Mike McShane . Through this engagement both got an engagement in the comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? for which he moved to London for four years. He then began touring Europe and New Zealand as a stand-up comedian . He was also the moderator of the Game Show Space Cadet and joined Mock the Week on. Back in the USA he worked on To Tell the Truth (2000) and hosted two game shows: VS. (1999) and Rendez-View (2001).

In addition to his work on television, he has participated as a voice actor in various films and series, such as The Nightmare Before Christmas , Bob the Builder and Asterix and the Vikings .

After his speaking role as Fode in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace , he took on the same role in the video game conversion of the film and the standalone video game Star Wars Episode I: Racer . He had a small role as Tal Merrick in the animated series The Clone Wars .

Greg Proops also worked as a radio presenter, especially in the 1990s for various BBC broadcasters .

Private life

Greg Proops is married and lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife Jennifer .
