Gregory O'Kelly

Gregory John O'Kelly SJ (born August 10, 1941 in Adelaide ) is an Australian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Port Pirie .

Life

Gregory O'Kelly joined the Congregation of the Jesuits in and received on 9 December 1972, the priestly ordination .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on July 6, 2006 auxiliary bishop in Adelaide and titular bishop of Ath Truim . The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of Adelaide, Philip Edward Wilson , on September 14th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Leonard Faulkner , Archbishop Emeritus of Adelaide, and Daniel Eugene Hurley , Bishop of Port Pirie.

On April 15, 2009 he was appointed Bishop of Port Pirie.

On June 3, 2018 Pope appointed him Francis to apostolic administrator sede plena of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide , bringing the official duties of the Archbishop Philip Wilson rested. After his resignation on July 30, 2018, he administered the Archdiocese as Apostolic Administrator sede vacante during the sedis vacancy that lasted until May 25, 2020 .

On August 1, 2020, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
