The Grengel district is located in the southeast of Cologne , in the Porz district .

location

Grengel borders Rösrath in the east, Troisdorf in the west - from south to north - Lind , Wahnheide , Elsdorf , Urbach and Eil .

history

Grengel was first referred to as Grindel in 1757 . This means turnpike or border post. The district was only founded on December 17, 1948, as the youngest settlement in what was then Porz. On September 16, 1951, the district already had 800 inhabitants. When Porz was incorporated into the city of Cologne on January 1, 1975, Grengel's area was nominally doubled by connecting the previous Porz district of the airport.

In the area of ​​the Grengel district there is a park with a stream and two duck ponds as well as other large areas of the Bieselwald nature reserve .
