Greystones ( Irish : Na Clocha Liatha ) is a coastal town in County Wicklow in the east of the Republic of Ireland .

The place

Greystones is a place on the east coast of Ireland , east of the Wicklow Mountains and south of Bray Head on the Irish Sea , eight kilometers south of the seaside resort of Bray . The Irish capital Dublin is 17 miles north. Greystones is therefore in the Greater Dublin Area , which has an impact on the transport links. During Census 2016 in Greystones Delgany-lived 18,140 people, so the place of the largest cities in the county counts Wicklow.

The name Greystones is derived from a one kilometer long gray-colored rocky coast between two stretches of beach. In the north of this section called the sea front lies the local port (which is in a not undisputed, extensive renovation and expansion process in 2009) and a stony beach that begins there; to the south is the train station and about a kilometer from a wide sandy beach, which attracts many visitors.

In 2008 Greystones won the LivCom Award as the most livable city in the world for places with up to 20,000 inhabitants.
