LivCom Award

The LivCom Award ( The International Awards for Liveable Communities , International Award for livable communities ) will annually by the 1997 International Association of Horticultural chief officer tendered (IFPRA) (originally under the name "Nations in Bloom") and the environmental program of the United Nations ( UNEP).

The title "Most Livable City in the World" is currently awarded in the following five categories, but these have been adapted over the years:

  • A - up to 20,000
  • B - up to 75,000
  • C - up to 200,000
  • D - up to 750,000
  • E - over 750,000 inhabitants

Evaluation criteria are:

  • Environment and landscape
  • Citizen participation
  • Preservation of the historical heritage
  • sustainable future planning

In 2004, German applicants were awarded first places in gold for the first time: Münster in Westphalia and the Rhein-Hunsrück district . 450 cities from all over the world applied.

In 2014, the award ceremony was suspended to review the format and structure of the award. There has been no award since then.

Award winners

The prizes were awarded in the following four categories:

  • A - up to 10,000 inhabitants
  • B - from 10,001 to 50,000 inhabitants
  • C - from 50,001 to 300,000 inhabitants
  • D - more than 300,000 inhabitants

The following cities were awarded the prize:

The categories have been changed since 1999 and another category has been added:

  • D - 300,001 to 1,000,000 inhabitants
  • E - more than 1,000,000 inhabitants

Since this year the award has been officially referred to as the LivCom Award. The categories have since been as follows:

  • A - up to 20,000 inhabitants

  • E - over 750,000 inhabitants

The award ceremony took place in Niagara Falls (Canada).

2005

The award ceremony took place in A Coruña ( Spain ).

2006

The award ceremony took place in Hangzhou (China).

2007

The award ceremony took place from November 22nd to 26th, 2007 in the City of Westminster (United Kingdom).

2008

The award ceremony took place from November 6th to 10th, 2008 in Dongguan (China).

2009

The award ceremony took place in Pilsen (Czech Republic).

2010

The award ceremony took place in Chicago (USA).

2011

The award ceremony took place in Songpa (South Korea).

2012

The award ceremony took place in Al Ain (United Arab Emirates).

2013

The award ceremony took place in Xiamen (China).
