Griesen is a district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the Garmisch district . The village is located upstream of the Loisach on the federal road 23 to Ehrwald just before the Austrian border at the confluence of Neidernach and Loisach.
Griesen has a demand stop at the Ausserfernbahn , which is of some importance for the tourist development of the Ammergau Alps . Summit destinations from Griesen include Schellschlicht and the double summit Frieder and Friederspitz ; It is possible to cross it to the Plansee , to Graswang , over the Felderkopf to Ettal and over the Kramerspitz to Garmisch.
