The Große Harth , which runs in a northwest-southeast direction, is a southeastern branch of the Hainich . Its ridge begins southeast of the Thiemsburg in the border area of ​​the Hainich National Park and ends in the southeast between the villages of Aschara and Hochheim ; it is about 8 km long and an average of 2 km wide. The Große Hardt is crossed by the federal road 84 , which connects the town of Bad Langensalza , located about 7 km northeast of its ridge, with the Reichenbach , located south on the ridge .
