The Große Höllbach is a creek almost five kilometers long in the Bavarian Forest Nature Park in the municipality of Lindberg in the Regen district . After a consistently southern course, it flows into the Kolbersbach from the right a little before its bend to the west .

course

The Große Höllbach arises on the south side of the saddle between the Großer Falkenstein and the Lackenberg in the Bavarian Forest , where several short source streams flow together in a moist forest area on the still flat upper slope. The highest spring is on the edge of the mat on the Lackenberg to the valley forest.

As a particularly impressive waterfall in spring, the stream then plunges through the Höllbachgspreng nature reserve to the valley, a steep-edged hollow in the terrain. For forestry use was once today nurmehr existing remnants and listed after about one kilometer Klause Höllbachschwelle with the well-preserved Höllbachschwellhütte built. Near the mouth, the shorter Kleine Höllbach , which arises on the southern slope of the Großer Falkenstein, flows from the right and from the north-northwest .

The Große Höllbach empties after a 4.7 km run and about 539 meters in altitude below its highest source.

tourism

The Große Höllbach with the Höllbachgspreng is part of a circular hiking trail from Lindberg to the Großer Falkenstein and back again.
