The Große Stieflitzbach , also known as the Große Stieflitz or Vordere Stieflitz , is a right tributary to the Wild Weißeritz near Höckendorf , Saxony .

course

Thelersäule above the Stieflitzgrund

The Große Stieflitzbach rises west of the Steinberg (432 m) near Ruppendorf in the district of Höckendorf. In its upper course leading north through the middle distance, the brook feeds two small ponds. The Butterstrasse used to run along this section of the stream , east of the Steinhübels (421 m) the Fürstenweg crossed the stream; the two old ways were eliminated in the second half of the 20th century.

In the middle course, the Große Stieflitzbach flows west of Höckendorf through a gentle valley basin with deciduous trees close to the bank and several ponds, the brook is crossed by the state road 190 between Obercunnersdorf and Ruppendorf and the local road between Obercunnersdorf and Höckendorf.

In the lower reaches of the stream reaches the Stieflitz and flows through a wooded Kerbtal in a north-westerly direction. On the right above the ground on the Höckendorfer Kirchsteig, which originally continued to Obercunnersdorf, is one of the two preserved Theler columns . On the mile sheet, a churchyard is marked at this point. Down the stream is the mouth of the Upper St. Michaelis Stolln. After 3.3 km, the Große Stieflitzbach flows into the Wilde Weißeritz west of Höckendorf at the ruins of the Stübemühle, also known as the stone mill .

A project of the state dam administration of Saxony for renaturation of the large and small Stieflitz with a total amount of 100,000 € has been running since 2013 .
