The Großschweidnitzer water is the left source stream of the Löbauer water .

The body of water in Neuschönberg arises from a multitude of smaller streams that flow in from the source areas at Seidelberg, Hutberg and Fichtelberg and rise at 355 m above sea level. Unite M. The barrel of the water to the northeast, the village extends Dürrhennersdorf where the left side of the Schönenbach coming Schönbacher water flows.

Between Dürrhennersdorf and Großschweidnitz the brook flows through a narrow valley, the Höllengrund . It is a typical example of an Upper Lusatian scale . At 266 meters above sea level M. also joins the Litte when coming from the left at the manor Großschweidnitz . Kleinschweidnitz lies at the lower reaches of the stream . After eight kilometers, the stream joins the Zimmermühle in the Löbauer district of Ebersdorf in Liebesdörfel with the Cunnersdorfer Wasser to form Löbauer Wasser .

The Großschweidnitzer water is sometimes assigned to the Löbauer water as the more water-rich source stream.

The stream, which was originally rich in fish, has been heavily polluted since the middle of the 19th century from Großschweidnitz by textile factories built there, so that the fish population perished. Its water power was previously used in Großschweidnitz to drive several mills and stone cutting shops. Today the water has again achieved quality class II. It is classified as a legally protected biotope, especially in the lower section of the river, and is characterized by its natural riparian zones.
