Kleinschweidnitz is a district of Großschweidnitz in the south of the East Saxon district of Görlitz in the Oberlausitzer Bergland.
geography
The 161 ha (1900) large corridor of the village connects almost completely to Großschweidnitz via state road 148 down the valley. It is located approx. 1 km south of the outskirts of Löbau .
geology
Two geological outcrops in the place are worth mentioning. In a former quarry at the Grenzmühle and in the creek bed rocks above the mill are made of Lusatian granodiorite , which, in contrast to its other directionless, granular formation, has a flat, gneiss-like texture, preferably made of dark mixture parts such as biotite , subordinate also hornblende . The rock is penetrated by several decimeter thick lamprophyre ducts. The second geological outcrop is at the Beckelmühle and shows an insight into the structure of the Pleistocene deposits in the area. A 1.2 m thick ground moraine from the largest ice advance of the Saale Ice Age (Drenthe Stadium) is located under a 1.5 m thick Gossamer loess loam . In lower layers, sand and gravel with thicknesses of 0.4 and 8.6 m respectively follow the two Elster Cold Age ice advances recorded in southern Upper Lusatia .
vegetation
Kleinschweidnitz is rich in old plants and trees. For example, there are mighty willows and ash trees on the old mill ditches, which can still be seen almost throughout . On the banks of the Großschweidnitzer water , which is almost completely wooded in Kleinschweidnitz, maple , linden , oak and alder are common.
history
Kleinschweidnitz was first mentioned together with Großschweidnitz in 1306.
The former Gutsblockflur occupies the triangular area between Großschweidnitzer and Cunnersdorfer Wasser up to Beckelmühle. In 1507 an iron hammer was awarded to the city of Löbau, which was located in the row village-like estate settlement . In 1598, the cathedral chapter of Bautzen exchanged its two local farmers for a hop garden in Großdehsa. In 1627 a manor appears for the first time in Kleinschweidnitz. This was rebuilt in its present form in 1865 by the Löbauer judicial councilor and member of the Reichstag, Karl August Mosig von Aehrenfeld . In the middle of the 19th century the place consisted of the manor, 27 houses and several mills. At the beginning of the 20th century there was a clay pit with an adjoining brick factory (today Ziegeleiweg) and a sand pit on the corridor border to Löbau. The many water mills were driven by the power of mill ditches or the Großschweidnitzer water , such as the Grenz- (formerly Gränz-), Jüttler- (today Jütter-) and Beckelmühle. The Belgermühle was powered by the Cunnersdorfer water. The Jüttler mill at Mühlweg 5 was used as an oil and grinding mill until around 1950. The moats used can still be found at almost all mills.
The last mayor of Kleinschweidnitz was Alwin Micklisch, who held the office from 1921 to 1935. After that, the mayor of Großschweidnitz took on joint responsibility until the town was incorporated into Großschweidnitz in 1937.
The manor property came to Neusiedler in 1946 during the land reform. The former manor house, which is a simple building with a mansard roof, shows the year 1838 with the initials CR (= Carl Rudolf) above the front door. There are also converted farm buildings with hipped roofs and the new mansion built around 1900. Behind this is a small park, on both sides of an avenue of lime trees, some of which are mighty old trees, such as copper beeches, red beeches, red oaks, larches and black pines.
