Large stone grave Sinsleben

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large stone grave Sinsleben was a Neolithic megalithic grave in Ermsleben -Sinsleben, a district of the municipality Falkenstein / Harz in the district of Harz , Saxony-Anhalt . The grave was discovered in 1831 and later completely destroyed. Its exact location is not known. It was only vaguely described as a “stone vault”, so that it is not entirely clear whether it was actually a large stone grave or a sub- or pseudomegalithic grave. Ulrich Fischer saw it as a stone grave , Hans-Jürgen Beier as a large stone grave or as a pseudomegalithic wall chamber grave .

As grave goods numerous ceramic vessels and at least one, but perhaps four were hatchets from shale found. Only one cup of the vessels remains, which can be assigned to the late Neolithic Bernburg culture . The materials obtained came first into Harzmuseum of Wernigerode and are now in the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle (Saale) .

Two other destroyed megalithic graves are also known from Ermsleben , the megalithic graves near Ermsleben , and a menhir , the nail stone from Ermsleben .
