The settlement is likely to have originated after the 10th century (1007) when the surrounding forest area was cleared. The seat of Weiffendorf was first mentioned in the 13th century and belonged to the Bamberg diocese . In 1439 it is mentioned that Weiffendorf was sold by the Kuchlers to the Friedburgers. Since then the place was taxable to Friedburg. A brewery is mentioned in a description of the noble residence from 1558. From this one can conclude that beer was already brewed in Weiffendorf at the beginning of the 16th century. The brewery was closed in the middle of the 20th century.

Weiffendorf was originally part of the Mauerkirchen judicial district, then moved to the Friedburg district court, and belonged to Mauerkirchen again from 1789 to 1809. In 1810 the seat was briefly part of the Ried Regional Court. From 1816 to 1854 the place was part of the judicial district Mauerkirchen, before it finally belonged to LG Ried im Innkreis from 1854 .

Großweiffendorf had 25 houses in 1788, 26 houses in 1832 and 41 houses in 1900.
