Volker Grohskopf

Volker Grohskopf (* 1966 in Lichtenfels ) is a German film, television and theater director.

Life

He obtained the higher education entrance qualification at the ETA Hoffmann-Gymnasium Bamberg . He has lived in Vienna since 1989 , studied visual communication with Peter Weibel , during this time made short films such as “3kgEisen” and “Krimi” and at the same time worked as an assistant director for Austrian directors. He assisted Susanne Zanke , Helmut Zenker , Jochen Bauer and, for six years, the television director Otto Anton Eder in film, television and theater productions. He took speaking and acting lessons from Gabriele Buch and Barbara McEly and played one of the leading roles in the annual Christmas productions of the Raimundtheater in 1997 and 1998 under the direction of Renate Kastelik.

In 1995 he staged the Linz Klangwolke for the first time as co-director of Jochen Bauer and took over the live and evening direction of this open-air spectacle "Missa Pacis - a peace symphony". Since 1995 he has been working as a television and theater director. His work included directing the Linz Klangwolke live (1995), television magazines and shows, artist portraits, opera, theater and concert broadcasts, video clips and commercials and, since 2003, the Villach carnival .

His documentary "Lotus & Sword" tells the story of the only women's kung fu monastery in Shaolin and has been translated into 14 languages ​​and broadcast worldwide. The documentary "In the realm of the Magic Flute" about the St. Margarethen Opera Festival and its classic DVD "The Magic Flute" - a live recording of the St. Margarethen Opera Festival in 2010 - made it into the top 10 of the Austrian charts and reached gold in 2010 and gold in 2014 Platinum status. This was followed by TV broadcasts of "Don Giovanni" (2011), "Carmen" (2012) and "La Bohème" (2013) with the accompanying documentaries. All appeared on DVD and topped the Austrian sales charts for weeks. In 2011 he led the live broadcast of the by Nikolaus Harnoncourt directed " The Bartered Bride " at the Styrian Festival styriarte . "Stabat Mater" followed in 2012. He has directed the weekly animal program “Tierzuliebe” on ORF with Maggie Entenfellner since the beginning. In “The Homecoming of the Lions” he accompanied the last lions, which the animal welfare organization “ Vier Pfoten ” bought freely from the Gänserndorf safari park , on their trip to the Lionsrock in South Africa. Together with the WDCS , he reported several times on the "Threatened Giants of the Seas" and the like. a. from Alicante & Boston. In the course of this he also took over the sponsorship of the four-year-old humpback whale "Coral".

Grohskopf has been writing reports and portraits for the German-Austrian dog magazine Wuff since 2009 .
