history

In 1913, the farmer Doedo Veenhuizen founded a company that specialized in helping farmers against flooding and land reclamation. In 1915 this company became Grontmij NV . Since then, the company has grown steadily.

Grontmij in Germany

Grontmij GmbH was a planning and engineering company that operated at around 30 locations across Germany and employed around 700 people.

In 2010 the former companies Grontmij AEW Plan GmbH, Grontmij AEW Control GmbH, Grontmij A&T GmbH, Grontmij auweck GmbH, Grontmij BGS Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, Grontmij Deutsche Projekt Union GmbH, Grontmij GfL GmbH and Grontmij IHP GmbH merged into Grontmij GmbH. 100% of these former subsidiaries with their predecessor companies were transferred to Grontmij GmbH.

Business areas and projects (selection)

Grontmij GmbH offered its public and private customers services in the fields of planning & design, transport & mobility and water & energy. The company's portfolio encompassed a wide range of space management, building construction and road construction, rail transport systems, bridge structures and waterways to waste management & geotechnics, water & wastewater management, as well as environmental & permit management and project management (PKS NETPlan®).

The projects carried out include the tender, design, approval and implementation planning of the Osthafenbrücke in Frankfurt am Main , participation in the construction of the new office building of the German stock exchange in Eschborn and the acquisition of land for the expansion of the 6-lane federal motorway 1 between Bremen and Hamburg . In addition, the general planning services up to and including approval planning for a modern combined heat and power plant at Munich Airport and the planning of the geothermal cogeneration plant in Sauerlach . In addition, there is the maintenance and development plan for the major nature conservation project "Natural and cultural landscape between Siebengebirge and Sieg", and participation in the " Green Belt " project (former inner-German border ) in Thuringia , in which the planning of the route and public relations work for 400 km of the Border hiking trail as well as various land consolidation procedures were carried out.
