Groptitz is part of the Stauchitz community .

Geography and traffic

Groptitz is located on a stream system between Mautitz and Groptitz, which flows into a pond in Groptitz, on the edge of the Lommatzscher Pflege , between the Elbe and the Saxon castle and heathland. The mountain of the Groptitz landfill , which is visible over many kilometers and above all from Riesa, is striking , which is now fenced and greened and from the surrounding area you have a good view of the city of Riesa. Riesa is 2 km away from Groptitz, Oschatz 9 km.

History and sights

Groptitz was mentioned as Gruptiz in 1323 , derived from the locator Grubota . In 1938 Groptitz was incorporated into Seerhausen together with Kalbitz . After the district reform in the GDR , Groptitz and Seerhausen no longer belonged to Oschatz, but to the Riesa district . On October 1, 1996, Groptitz was incorporated into the community of Plotitz with Seerhausen . In 1999, the municipality of Stauchitz was formed by the municipal area reform laws in Saxony.

The protected linden tree in the center of the village, which is immediately surrounded by three streets, is a local attraction .
