history

Mautitz was first mentioned in 1264 as Muzewicz. The place name probably comes from the Sorbian personal name Muc. The hallway was inhabited much earlier. East of Mautitz there is a Germanic burial ground from the Latène period with urns, cover bowls and metal grave goods. In 1378 the place was administered from the Castrum Meißen and belonged to the Supanie Pulsitz , a Slavic administrative district. In 1547, the residents of Mautitz, along with others of the von Schleinitz subjects, had to serve 14 servants, 2 army wagons, 8 horses, 4 carters and other accessories . The Mautitz Vorwerk belonged to the Ragewitz Manor until 1612, when it became independent.

After the land reform of 1946, new farmers built 25 farms in Mautitz, some of them by converting former manor buildings. On January 31, 1953, LPG Aufbau (Type I) was founded, which in the middle of the year became a Type III LPG. In 1956 the LPG had an area of 473 hectares of land.

Population development

In recent years the population of Mautitz has remained relatively constant. However, one can see in the overview that shortly after the Second World War the population rose sharply.
