Nickritz is a district of the Saxon town of Riesa in the district of Meißen .

The village is five kilometers southwest of Riesa, west of Nickritz is Oelsitz and to the south are the towns of Böhlen and Gostewitz and southwest Jahnishausen, which can be reached via the K8561 county road. To the northeast of Nickritz are the towns of Mergendorf and Poppitz , to the east are Leutewitz , Göhlis and Schänitz and southeast of Nickritz is Heyda. In the 19th century the place was called a dead end village with a corridor. Nickritz stretches from southwest to northeast on the elevated edge of a floodplain, where Jahna and Keppritzbach unite. The Jahnatal cycle path runs east of Nickritz.

A manor was mentioned in Nickritz in 1206, at the same time the first mention of Nickritz in the name of the noble owner Hildebrandus de Nicracis . The name was changed several times, so the place was called in 1334 Nycracz, Nickracz , 1350 Nykras , 1378 Nycras, Nykraz , 1445 Nigraschitz, Nigkras , 1466 Nickericz , 1529 Nickaritz , 1547 Nyckeritz and Nickritz in 1667. From 1843 Nickritz was administered by the Meißen office, in 1856 by the Riesa court office and from 1875 by the Großenhain office . After the First World War , an economic boom began in Riesa, for which workers were needed, who of course needed living space. So some residents settled in the former vineyard who mainly worked in factories in Riesa. New houses were built in vacant lots on the rural village street, also in vacant lots on the thoroughfare. The new Nickritz extended out toward the Temple Mount. In 1941 the Nickritz volunteer fire brigade was founded, which now functions as one of six district brigades in Riesa.

Saxons came after the Second World War in the Soviet zone of occupation and later the GDR . After the territorial reform in 1952 , Nickritz was assigned to the Riesa district in the Dresden district . Rural life in Nickritz was now based on the principle of agriculture in the GDR . Some farmers joined the LPG Nickritz-Ölsitz. LPG Nickritz-Ölsitz also carried out the cam threshing of rapeseed at night. In order to reduce the loss of grain, a piece of canvas was laid out in front of the MTS Nünchritz combine harvester, which had been prepared accordingly (see photo). This served to increase the harvest yield in order to provide the citizens with sufficient bread. In 1958, some farmers founded the LPG Frohe Zukunft , which was initially an LPG type I, which later became type III. The usable area with a size of 172 hectares was cultivated a few years later by the KAP Riesa-Göhlis. Another expansion took place on Riesaer Straße, where a sewage treatment plant was built in 1972.

After the German reunification , Nickritz came to the re-established Free State of Saxony . The following regional reforms in Saxony assigned the district to the Riesa-Großenhain district in 1994 and to the Meißen district in 2008. On March 1, 1994 Nickritz was incorporated into Riesa. Neunickritz had 168 inhabitants in 2009. In the 1990s in particular, single-family houses were built on Straße am Weinberg and Gostewitzer Straße. On December 31, 2007, the Riesa – Nossen railway was officially closed. Since the planned deedication was rejected and the line was taken over by the Nossen-Riesaer Eisenbahn-Compagnie in 2008 , two bridges that have already been demolished have to be rebuilt. Only freight trains are currently running on the route.

Buildings

  • former station building

The station building at Nickritz station was opened in 1878 and was the station for the Saxon royal family, who owned Jahnishausen Castle for a long time. The station was also owned by the royal family and is of importance in terms of transport and regional history. It consists of two wing buildings with two floors in the Swiss style, in between the lounge open to the platform and open roof truss, some old windows, currently scaffolding, arched windows with sandstone sills and walls, sandstone slabs under the windows, inside: doors inside, floorboards.

  • Stable building of a former three-sided farm

The farm is located at Dorfstraße 10 and the stable building has a half-timbered upper floor with clay infills. The stable is an elongated, gable-independent structure built in 1830 in a street-defining location in the old town center, and is of architectural significance. The barn and the house originally also had a half-timbered upper floor, which still existed in 1977. The ground floor consists of quarry stone masonry with sandstone walls. The barn has been demolished and the house is currently not a monument.

  • Bridge over the Keppritzbach

The bridge, which was built around 1890, is a sandstone arch bridge that is of architectural importance. It is located behind the property at Dorfstrasse 16. The bridge is used as a road bridge and has a new wall.

In 2006 the association was founded, which has its seat in the former restaurant. The sports group has its own room here. The association built a volleyball field under 350 hours of voluntary work by the members, for which the club members raised EUR 2,000 themselves, while the city of Riesa gave EUR 900 for posts and nets. The sports facility was inaugurated in May 2009. The village festival and the Halloween and New Year bonfires take place on the square every year.

The association was founded in preparation for the 800th anniversary. For example, he now organizes events for Women's Day and looks after the Feuerflöhe, a junior research group for the Nickritzer fire department.

  • Nickritz Volunteer Fire Brigade

The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1941, which now functions as one of 6 district brigades in Riesa. It has a room in the former restaurant and today's parish hall. In 2010 a new fire station for the volunteer fire brigade was built to the right of the parish hall. The fire brigade has a TSF ( portable fire pump ) from Mercedes-Benz built in 2011.
